Raina survived two dropped catches during his unbeaten 104 110-ball as India chased down a target 288 in 48.4 overs stiff term for their sixth win in as many matches.
Departure Zimbabwe batsman Taylor had anchored Zimbabwe 287 all with a punishing 110-ball 138 in what was his last international after signing an agreement with the English county Nottinghamshire.
With India on 158-4 and Raina 47, Zimbabwe has pushed a good chance to press for a win when Hamilton Masakadza dropped a well-leg short term sitter Sikander Raza.
It was Masakadza who was receiving the second chance when the wicket keeper Taylor dropped off Raina's bowling with his score of 71.
The left Zimbabwe punished by completing his fifth hundred a day - his first World Cup - reaching the three-digit mark off 94 balls. In all, he hit nine boundaries and four sixes.
With India in a zone of turbulence at 92-4 when Raza upset Virat Kohli 38, Raina found a capable partner skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the experienced duo added 196 for the fifth wicket unbroken position.
Dhoni finished with 85 not out off 76 balls, hitting six out Tinashe Panyangara win, his second in more than eight boundaries.
India lost Rohit Sharma opening (16), Shikhar Dhawan shaped (four) and Ajinkya Rahane (19), with two counters go Panyangara.
Earlier Taylor smashed 15 boundaries and five sixes in his brilliant towering shot.
His tone anchored his team, unable to qualify for the quarter-finals after they were sent to bat by the defending champions.
He added an invaluable 93 for the fourth wicket with Sean Williams (50) and another 109 for the next with Craig Ervine (27) to help Zimbabwe recover from a fight 33 for three.
Taylor guided ball short paceman Mohammad Shami slope during the third man boundary for a six to reach his hundred in this successive World Cup off 99 balls.
In the process Taylor became the only Zimbabwe batsman to hit back-to-back hundreds in the World Cup, with that innings after his 121 against Ireland.
Taylor then smashed-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja for three boundaries and two sixes in one over to complete his 400 runs in the tournament - another first Zimbabwe to the World Cup.
He was finally out off paceman Mohit Sharma, who also ended the strike Ervine to finish with three for 48. Umesh Yadav Shami and also took three wickets each.
Before the arrival of Taylor in his own, Zimbabwe had lost Masakadza (two), Chamu Chibhabha (seven) and Solomon Mire (nine) by the 11th over.
Pakistan-born Raza chipped in with a 15-ball 28, including three sixes and four to give the innings some much needed momentum.
For the first time in the tournament, bowling India was tested as spinners Ravichandran Ashwin went for 75 and 71 respectively Jadeja in their ten overs each.
India will face Bangladesh in you quarterfinals in Melbourne on March 19.
